Marking of air obstacles
Principles of Air Obstacle Marking according to ICAO
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR WARNING OF AIR OBSTACLES
All obstacles as defined by the ICAO should be marked and/or illuminated.
- During the day, a warning light by illumination can replace a warning light by marking.
- At night, all obstacles must be illuminated with warning lights
- The type of warning light depends on the size (height, width and length) and shape of the object:
- Low-intensity obstacle lighting for obstacles below 45 meters
- Oświetlenie przeszkodowe średniej intensywności do przeszkód od 45 do 150 metrów
- High-intensity obstacle lighting for obstacles over 150 meters
- The number and distribution of low-, medium- or high-intensity lights on each level to be marked should be such that the object is indicated from all angles in azimuth.
- If the light is shielded in any direction by another part of the object that affects the definition of the obstacle, additional lights must be provided, in such a way as to preserve the overall definition of the object to be illuminated.
