FX850AP runway approach lighting

FX850AP

Product description

The FX850AP Runway Approach Light is part of FX’s full range of luminaires for runway and taxiway lighting systems, all of which use LEDs as the light source. This particular application is a unidirectional, transparent (white) high-intensity light source suitable for CAT I/II/III operations. Optimal energy consumption is made possible by the latest LED technology and optical system design. Due to the reduced power requirements, the operating temperature is lower, which better extends the expected life of the LEDs, which is calculated at more than 60,000 hours.

The luminaire meets FAA Type 3 and ICAO Type 4 specifications, according to which mounting protrusions are ?6.3 mm. The FX 12″ series protrudes only 6.0 mm above pavement level. This extremely low projection helps prevent light damage during runway clearing, especially in winter conditions. The fixture operates from 2.8 to 6.6 amps and can be powered by an IGBT, ferroresonant or thyristor-type CCR feeding an airport lighting (AGL) series circuit. The luminaire is fully dimmable and follows the response curve of halogen bulbs as detailed in Technical Description 67 presented in FAA Advisory Circular (AC) 150/5345-53. To prevent silt, water or dust from accumulating in front of the lens and affecting photometric performance, the design does not include a negative slope. Designed to withstand harsh environments, the luminaires will operate in a temperature range of -55°C to +55°C (-67°F to +131°F) and are IP67 (IEC 69598-1) rated.

The standard FAA L823 Type 1 connector is used to connect the device to an isolation transformer, providing a watertight connection. For some applications, the option of an additional power cord can be ordered. The luminaire can be powered by either a thyristor or a sine wave type constant current regulator (CCR) operating in the range of 2.8 – 6.6 A in an airport lighting (AGL) series circuit. A “fail open” monitoring function is available, which works if the LED array stops working in an interrupted or shorted state. The luminaire can be installed in a suitable standard 12″ mounting base (light base)

Usage

The luminaire is used as a runway approach path light. CAT II ground lighting systems
(agl) for all airports.
